Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor who was famous for her portrayal as the spirited lawyer Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. Following her wedding, she was Nikki Kodjoe. Her acting talent was evident since childhood. A Maryland high school contest gave her the top actress prize. In addition to her work at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of the Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her the degree of Acting at New York University. Contractor, a Mumbai-born Indian, who lived in Nigeria from the time she was just seven years old. She was well-versed in the world's cultures, and traveled extensively at such a young stage. She was a boarding student in London from seven to nine years of age, and then her family moved into Toronto, Canada, where she lived the bulk of her childhood and young adulthood. Contractor was a student and a dancer of classical style in Toronto. She went to the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It is a special high-school for the arts, in which she didn't just study theater but danced too. Contractor aged 16 at the time she realized that acting would be her career. She danced for a decade. As she finished high school, she was offered an all-inclusive tuition grant to the University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double degrees in Sociology and Psychology. Contractor was cast in her first show following her first year at university. She received rave reviews for her performance on the stage in 92 productions. the play was voted the production of the year by Canadian critics in 2002. Contractor accepted the offer to take part in Stratford's Conservatory course. There are only eight males and four females are admitted for a 20-week intensive course in the classical theatre. The role was secured for Contractor during the upcoming series of plays, and she landed Hermia's part in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
